Are You Stingy And Miserly? Here Are Five (5) Scriptures to Help You Share More || Read For Free

When we hear the word stingy, we usually get a visual of some little kid who doesn’t want to share their toys. But it’s not just kids who are unwilling to share; there are grown folks who just aren’t willing to give anything away.

People are stingy with their time, with their money, and with their blessings in general. If you haven’t got it in your head yet that we are blessed so that we can share that blessing with others, here are five (5) scriptures you need to read:

Hebrews 13:16 (ESV)- “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” One of the greatest sacrifices we can give the Lord, aside from committing our lives to Him, is the sacrifice of our wants for the needs of others. Being selfless is an act of love that pleases Him!

Luke 3:11 (ESV)- “And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” You are not required to give away what you don’t have, but when you have more than enough, share the extra with someone in need. For example: if you got a raise at work, but know of someone who could use the money more than you, bless them with a portion of your newfound wealth.

Luke 6:38 (NLT)- “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Blessed and highly favored are those who gladly give to others! The Lord rewards then openhanded, because their generosity delights Him.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT)- “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’” Only you can decide what you are and are not willing to give. Don’t feel pressured or obligated to give people everything. The Lord isn’t asking you to let yourself be taken advantage of, but don’t hold back from every request for a donation of your time, money, etc. Gladly be willing to assist someone in need, not just for the recipient’s pleasure, but for the Lord’s.

Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)- “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.” Give, keeping in mind that you are not only serving man, but that you are serving the Lord (Colossians 3:23). God will not overlook your good deeds, and will reward you accordingly if you give with the right spirit.

So put on a smile and be a blessing to someone! Be a living example of God’s love and kindness. Cut time out of your day to visit a friend in need, send a meal to a family who’s fallen on hard times, donate to a charity.

Whatever you do, do it for the Lord, and with a cheerful spirit.
