Gospel Singer, CeCe Winans Lifts Her Voice to Dedicate Brand New Bible Museum in Washington.

The $500 million Museum of the Bible opened to the public Saturday, Nov. 18 in Washington D.C.

The day before, Grammy® Award-winning gospel singer CeCe Winans lifted her voice in a ceremony to dedicate the privately funded project highlighting the rich history of the life-changing word of God.

Winans blessed the crowd with “Amazing Grace,” after which, 10 speakers prayed, sermonized and told stories about the Bible’s impact on their own lives, on American politics and law, and on Christian and Jewish history.

Museum of the Bible is now one the largest institutions focused on religion in the District, considered one of the world’s major museum draws.

The eight-story, 430,000-square-foot museum welcomed a standing-room-only crowd joining the celebration inside the museum's 472-seat, technologically advanced World Stage Theater.

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said, "It is appropriate that in the nation's capital where we have soaring museums and monuments and where people visit us from around the world that the Museum of the Bible would be built here."

The morning ceremony was followed by an official ribbon-cutting in front of the museum's entrance.
