Taraji P. Henson, who frequently talks about her Christian faith, is sharing a message she says the Holy “Spirit delivered” to her.
“I gave you the brightest light for a very specific reason because I knew you would shine like no other,” reads the affirming word posted on Instagram, Jan. 5.
The divinely inspired affirmation from the Oscar nominated actress’s personal devotion continues, “If you ever encounter someone else who can’t handle the shine that is only enhancing their light, that’s not your problem child. I will place in your life all of the right souls that love and understand your light.”
Speaking of shining, this is something Henson, star of FOX’s hit drama “Empire,” has being doing a lot of lately.
The 46-year-old, who also stars in the new film Hidden Figures, currently in theaters, is getting rave reviews for her portrayal of Katherine Johnson, a brilliant mathematician whose number-crunching helped Nasa during the agency’s formidable years.
“Back on my morning meditation (I fell off for a while),” shared Henson with her millions of Instagram followers, captioning the text-based graphic containing the encouragement.
“Thought I would share it with you! Don’t ever dim your light to make someone else feel comfortable! God gave you that light to share with the world. If someone can’t take your brightness… politely hand them a pair of fabulous shades and wish them well on their journey,” she wrote.
In light of the focus of Hidden Figures, the content of Henson’s published message is appropriate.
She, along with Janelle Monae and Octavia Spencer, bring to life the stories of three ladies who refused to dim their light during a decade rife with racial tension, division and oppression of women.
For those who can’t handle all that you are, Henson advises, “Pray that they tap into the light God gave them.”
