Gospel Recording Artist Deon Kipping Reveals Stage 3 Cancer Diagnosis: ‘I Believe That God Is Able’.

Gospel recording artist Deon Kipping, who has poured into the masses through his music, is now asking others to pour back into him through prayer.

The “What’s Coming Is Better” songwriter has been diagnosed with cancer and is asking the Body of Christ to intercede for him.

“The bad news is I’ve recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, but the good news is God is my healer and I know He has it all under control,” said the somber-looking musician in a recorded video message.

“I don’t have a script to read from today. This is real life and in this life I’m requesting your prayers and support,” he continued.

The 37-year-old Connecticut native, who has been singing since the young age of 9, has shared the stage with gospel greats: Kirk Franklin, Hezekiah Walker and Tye Tribbett. His ability to create touching melodies opened a door for Kipping to compose music for Marvin Sapp.

He wrote and recorded “Praise Him in Advance,” which is heard on Sapp’s 2007 album, Thirsty, earning Kipping his first ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Award.

The stricken singer is calling this cancer battle “the biggest fight of my life” and is specifically asking for “prayers for these doctors, prayers for my family, prayers for me, especially my son. Please keep him in prayer. This is a difficult time for all of us.”

Since going public with his illness, the gospel industry has rallied around Kipping. Kirk Franklin, JJ Hairston, Jonathan Nelson, Eric Dawkins and more have taken to their social media pages to rally intercessors.

“I’m not looking for pity. I’m really reaching out for your prayers,” said Kipping in his video message, adding, “I know that I can make it. I believe that God is able and that’s enough for me.”
