Gospel's favorite duo is teaming up for one of gospel music's biggest events of the year.
Husband and wife, actors, and singers David and Tamela Mann, will host the NFL Sanctioned Super Bowl Gospel Celebration (SBGC) Friday, February 3, 2017, at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.
The musical extravaganza will kick-off Super Bowl LI with its 18th Annual star-studded jubilation. And who better to host this year’s celebration than the breakout stars of Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns -- a pair of celebrities that have won the hearts of America's faith-based community?
The annual event joins together key NFL Players, top Gospel, Contemporary Christian and mainstream GRAMMY® Award-winning artists and special guests all on one stage to bring audiences an evening of uplifting music and inspirational messages.
Taking the stage for this year’s concert will be ten-time GRAMMY® Award-winning and best-selling female gospel artist of all time CeCe Winans, six-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated and five-time Dove Award Female Vocalist of the Year, contemporary Christian singer Natalie Grant, and world renowned and EMMY® Award-winning contemporary soul violinist Damien Escobar.
Other performers include gospel singers Yolanda Adams and Jekalyn Carr, hip-hop artists BJ the Chicago Kid and Lecrae, and R&B singers Lalah Hathaway and Anthony Hamilton, as well as special surprise guests.
“We founded this event to bring even more inspiration and celebration to one of the biggest events of the year – the Super Bowl,” says Melanie Few-Harrison, Creator & Executive Producer of Super Bowl Gospel Celebration in a press announcement obtained by EEW Magazine.
“Each year we aim to touch lives in a meaningful way and make the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration bigger than the last with artists and special guests. We look forward to kicking off Super Bowl 51 in Houston and making our mark as the best most uplifting event we’ve had in our 18-year history!”
The highlight of this year’s show will be the NFL Players Choir, which features 40 current and former NFL players. The choir has become one of the most anticipated performances during Super Bowl Weekend, which is now celebrating its ten-year anniversary. Musical Director Myron Butler will also be returning this year to lead the choir.
Tickets are available for purchase through Ticket Master and Ticket Servant. The concert will air on BET and Centric TV on February 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM ET/CT (special will re-air at 11:00 PM ET/CT).
