Remembering A Legacy —Top Ten (10) Martin Luther King Jr. Quotes

Yesterday the nation comes together to celebrate a man who would be 88 years old if he were still alive. A man who was a great civil rights activist and helped move us closer toward the freedom and equality we are still fighting for today.

This man is Martin Luther King Jr., and here are 10 of his best quotes:

1. “Darkness cannot dive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

2. “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

3. “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

4. “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

5. “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

6. “The time is always right to do what is right.”

7. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

8. “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

9. “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

10. “The quality, not the longevity, of one’s life is what is important.”

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
