Gospel Singer CeCe Winans Hopes Her New Music Will Offer Peace in Turbulent Times || Watch Interview

It is a tumultuous time in America as government upheaval and unrest among citizens has reached fever pitch.

“We need peace right now,” says multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning singer CeCe Winans, who is hoping to offer just that through her latest CD, Let Them Fall In Love, in stores Friday, Feb. 3.

With only a couple of days to go before releasing her brand new music to the world, Winans, 52, dropped by the Red Velvet Cake Studios for the famous In Studio Jam and chat with the Tom Joyner Morning Show crew.

While there, she learned that her single, “Peace from God,” is already providing some much-need solace, comfort and escape for TJMS co-host Sybil Wilkes, who is deeply disturbed by the state of our nation and the world.

“I played the CD yesterday. I got a copy of it and I got in the car, and I’m immediately listening to all the crazy stuff that’s going on in the news,” said Wilkes. “And I said, ‘I need to get away from this,’ and I put your CD in. And I promise you this song took me to another place.”

Winans was visibly moved by the positive impact the song had on the radio personality as she listened intently.

“It’s so necessary right now CeCe," added Wilkes. "The timing just could not have been better.”

“Awesome, awesome,” replied the First Lady of Nashville Life church, which she launched with her husband Alvin Love in 2012. The Nashville, Tennessee-based ministry leader recently told Billboard the duties of the local church are the reason why her solo return took a full nine years.

"It was a really big undertaking,” she said of starting a church, “and I really couldn't focus on the music, and I'm one of those people who has to focus. Finally, once we got things going with the church and got a rhythm happening there, I was able to create some space and think about, 'What do I want to do next?'"

She figured it all out with the help of her son Alvin Love III, who co-produced Let Them Fall In Love with Tommy Sims. He also wrote most of the set's 10 tracks, which features all live instruments from a 40-piece orchestra.

As the Gospel Hall of Fame inductee gives the gift of music to her fans, the current political climate is weighing heavily on her heart.

According to Winans, the "Peace from God" record "is the universal prayer that we would see peace -- peace in our government, peace in our community and peace in our nation."

She also told Billboard, "We're praying for those who are in leadership, praying for the police, praying for the black community, coming together and learning about each other. That's an awesome opportunity during the sad things that are going on to fight the way I know how to fight -- with prayer."
